Vigil Tonight to mourn the loss of Sri Lankan victims

“Had God not repelled ˹the aggression of˺ some people by means of others, destruction would have surely claimed monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which God’s Name is often mentioned. God will certainly help those who stand up for Him. God is truly All-Powerful, Almighty.” [The Clear Quran 22:40]

The world woke up on Easter Sunday to the shock and horror of what happened in Sri Lanka… A group of peaceful worshipers were mercilessly murdered in broad daylight inside their Church.

Unfortunately bloodshed has become a pervasive everyday occurrence in our lives. It is not an exaggeration to say that every second hundreds are killed without any reason and for no crime that they committed. This is sadly … the current state of affairs…. Sadly it is the world that we live in now. The victims no longer know why they got killed and sometimes neither do the killers. The Prophet Mohamed PBUH swore saying: ((By the One who controls my soul, a time will come when the killer does not know why he shed blood, and the victim does not know why they lost their lives))

This incident proves again that Terrorism has no religion. Terrorism has no specific land or home… Fanaticism, extremism and terrorism only flourish and find abode in evil people’s minds and hearts. A few weeks ago, victims were Muslims, jews and christians. And today we mourn the loss of another group of victims who are also Christians.

Will we do anything to minimize injustice or stop evil? Some of us choose to simply be observers and not even attempt to do anything or spur others to act.

I invite you all to mourn the loss of the victims tonight at the Vigil organized by the Sri Lanka Canada Association for the Atlantic Region.

The Halifax Vigil:

Tuesday, April 23rd 2019 @ 7 pm. to 8.30pm. Venue for the event Victoria Park, Halifax (opposite Public Gardens), corner of Spring Garden Rd and South Park Street.
